Recreational House League
What can be said about one of Canada's oldest and most respected basketball programs. For over 35 years almost every single elite level player to come from Burlington, started in the MBAB. Former players have returned with their own kids years later and we await the grand children at any time... OOPS sorry, they have arrived on our courts already.
This well-established and highly respected recreational basketball program offers 14 to 16 weeks of skill development and games for newer and more experienced players in a Saturday only format. The emphasis is on fun while learning the game of basketball. The focus is on the basic skills and drills that are easily understood providing the kids with a good foundation and an opportunity for continuous improvement. Each skill is built upon every week with repetition to ensure development. Scrimmages give the children a chance to play what they have learned. This program is ideal for the new and inexperienced basketball player as well as those looking for a more casual opportunity to play the game. MBAB is also the choice of multi-sport participants as it allows them to improve at basketball while maintaining participation in other sports. High School Age Boy players who want to stay in shape have chosen the MBAB High School Boys open Gym Program for years. This high school program features open gym time with minimal or no instruction, 3 on 3, 4 on 4 and mini tournaments.
MBAB is Directed by Burlington's most experienced and respected Basketball Volunteer. Mr. Beleck has introduced more children to the game of basketball, while creating a program based on respect and fairness, that is critically acclaimed for the number of elite players it started out. Yes, the rumour is true Mr. Beleck played in the New York High School system at the same time as Julius Erving (Dr.J)
For Parents interested in coaching, we have a great format to follow. Since gyms always include 2 teams, we can put an experienced coach along side someone new, to be sure both teams succeed. Program features include (for each age group)
